The nominations for the fourth annual Joe Shuster Awards for excellence in Canadian cartooning were announced this past week, and I’m very pleased to have been given two nominations - Best Cover Artist and Best Webcomic! I’m up against some stiff competition in the Webcomic category, however - TX all but swept the category with nominations for my colleagues Michael Cho, Ramon Perez, Scott Hepburn and Karl Kerschl. So no matter which one of us picks up the award, it’s a win for TX Comics!
Unless of course it’s won by any of the other Non-TX nominees - Gisele Lagace, Scott Ransoomair, or Ryan Sohmer and Lar De Souza. Good luck to everyone!
Also, huge apologies to anyone who may have shown up to the Toronto Comicon this weekend expecting to see me - I ended up not attending due to having to finish off this week’s Sin Titulo and my forthcoming graphic novel from Oni Press, The Apocalipstix. I’m happy to report that both are now complete!

This reminds me of Highlander. Would´t be surprised if it´s him lurking in the shadows, waiting to take someone´s head

It’s amazing that you can invoke such fear and suspense from one tiny little outline. I’m going to have trouble sleeping tonight…
Congratulations on the Shuster nomination! Good luck!

First of all, i love the “neon”sound effect.
Will he keep moving? Do we trust her( shes got dark glasses)? Why is he earing the ripping sounds and not her? Is she lying? Will he confront the thing hiding? Ok I could go on like this for days because i could do it with every other pages. But I will just enjoy it and suffer the unbearable week wait. You’re truly the greatest. I now love you more than Dave Gibbons or Jonh Cassaday. I can’t wait for the new Seaguy! Oh yeah, I’m a grouppie!

Panel 6 intrigues me.
1) How can our character, after just passing out, confidently discern a ripping noise from the ‘Bzz’ of the fluorescent light?
2) What’s that mark on the floor? Is it an oil/petrol spill, or a leak from the pipe above? At first glance it looks like a shadow caused by the little hovering thing above it - or is that just an inlet valve type thing mounted on the wall in the background?
All in all - fantastic drawings. The whole scene screams sub-basement parking, from the signage to the reflection in the lady’s glasses. Moodily lit too. A scene well set - well done, mate.
Me.
