I’m not entirely convinced by Rob that her reaction is real world though (for her character, yes, real world – not so sure) Personally, were I in her shoes, I would think his interest in his granddad is normal since we tend not to think about what’s there until it is gone. Plenty of people are walking around regretting their lack of interest in someone while they were still around. Carrie is just plain COLD. If I found my boyfriend beat to within an inch of his life I would have him in the hospital with a policeman taking his statement before he could tell me to take him home.

BUT! I’m not Carrie (thank goodness) and she chose to leave. That makes me much happier than seeing her stick around and nag the guy to death. Plus, her being a kindhearted woman would completely ruin the current storyline, which is great! I’m looking forward to seeing if she ever comes back and redeems herself or if another female character comes in to play a more nurturing/supportive role.

Also it’s worth reviewing Alex’s behaviour – He found out that his grandfather died which would seem to beg compassion, but as Carrie pointed out much earlier in the story, Alex didn’t seem to care about him much until he found out he died. He ignored her when she told him to not go stalking Wesley, even going so far as to hang up on her and not answer any more of her calls. The next time she hears from him is when he calls her to beg her to come get him after being beaten and robbed and left for dead. And in return he tries to downplay her probably legitimate fear of being attacked. So yeah, I figured that enough was probably enough for her.
